(12/18/2007) FINAL GRADES ARE POSTED!!! You can view your grades on the Blackboard website. See the instructions on how to access them below. Here are some charts to give you an idea of what the grade distribution looks like and where you stand in the class. HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY :)
NOTE: Please note that students with an incomplete grade for this course are included in the "F" bin. This overestimates the number of students who failed.
(12/12/2007) Extra Office Hours: I will hold extra office hours tomorrow (Thursday, Dec 13) between 11:30AM and 1:30PM.
(12/09/2007) Office hours tomorrow: Tomorrow, I will hold office hours between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM rather than the usual 10:00 - 11:00.
(12/06/2007) Course Evaluations: This year course evaluations will be done online. Please take a few minutes to evaluate this course by the last day of classes (December 12). You can do so by clicking here.
(12/04/2007) Time and place of the final exam: The final exam is scheduled for Monday, December 17, between 8:00AM and 10:00AM in Tydings 1132. Time and place of the practice final exam: We will have a practice final exam on Friday, December 7, during class.
(11/21/2007) PS 4 is posted below. It is due at the beginning of the lecture on November 28. As usual, if you will not be able to attend that lecture, you can email me your answers by 9 AM that day or you can leave them in my mailbox in Tydings 3105 with a time and date stamp.
(11/13/2007) Class canceled tomorrow! Due to health reasons, I am forced to cancel the class tomorrow. I apologize for the short notice. Please put this extra time to good use (catch up with reading, do the extra exercises on the web etc) and also read the first half of Chapter 13 for Friday's lecture.
(10/29/2007) PS 3 is posted below. It is due at the beginning of the lecture on Monday, November 5. As usual, if you will not be able to attend that lecture, you can email me your answers by 9 AM that day or you can leave them in my mailbox in Tydings 3105 with a time and date stamp.
(10/18/2007) Midterm grades are now available! You can view your grades on the Blackboard website. See the instructions on how to access them below. Here are some charts to give you an idea of what the grade distribution looks like and where you stand in the class.
Note: Both of these distributions are based on the 35 students who took the midterm (there are 37 students enrolled in the course so they are pretty close to the overall class distribution). They both exclude the bonus points as they will be added at the very end. If your total score is below 16, you might want to come and talk to me.
(10/16/2007) I posted the midterm questions and answers below. We will go over the solutions tomorrow. I will post your grades on the Blackboard website next Monday.
(10/14/2007) Just a reminder that there will be no lecture tomorrow morning as we will have the midterm at 5PM.
(10/01/2007) PS 2 is posted below. It is due at the beginning of the lecture on Monday, October 8. As usual, if you will not be able to attend that lecture, you can email me your answers by 9 AM that day or you can leave them in my mailbox in Tydings 3105 with a time and date stamp.
(09/18/2007) Updated information on free tutoring from Economics Association of Maryland is available below.

Practice question for chapter 1:
Suppose the demand function for good X is given by D(P,Y) = 60 - 15P +
3Y. Similarly, the supply function of good X is given by S(P,Ps) = 35P
- 10Ps. P is the price of good X, Y is income and Ps is the price of
good Z which is used in the production of good X. If income is 100 and
the price good Z is 1, what are the equilibrium quantity and price of
good X? What happens to the equilibrium if income doubles? What happens
to the equilibrium if the price of good Z doubles? [Try to solve this
question. If you have trouble with the math, you need to
refresh your calculus. If you have questions contact me.]
(08/29/2007) Welcome to Econ 305!
